Davis stars as Lakers end losing streak

LA Lakers superstar LeBron James

Despite the absence of LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers ended a three-game losing run with victory over the Portland Trailblazers on Wednesday night.

The 99-94 success over the Trailblazers kept the Lakers in ninth in the Western Conference, ahead of Portland, as the fit-again Anthony Davis top-scored on their home court.
With ‘King James’ still missing due to a knee injury, the 28-year-old Davis stepped up to fill the points-scoring void, bagging 30 points and 15 rebounds on the night.

Up next for the Lakers, who are now 16/1 to win the NBA Championship this season, is a clash with their LA rivals, the Clippers.

Frank Vogel’s men are 5/4 to collect back-to-back wins, with the Clippers – one place above their neighbours in the Western standings – 4/6 on the moneyline.

Meanwhile, there was another setback for Brooklyn Nets, as Steve Nash’s men fell to a six successive loss with a 112-101 defeat to the Sacramento Kings.

The two Conference leaders are in action in the early hours of Friday (UK Time), with the Phoenix Suns and Chicago Bulls both on the road.
The Suns are in Atlanta looking to extend their winning run to 12 games, with last season’s beaten finalists now 13/2 to win the title this year.

Phoenix have already beaten the Hawks this season, 121-117 back in November, and can be backed at 10/11 with -5.5 on the handicap.

Meanwhile, the Bulls hold a 32-18 record at the top of the East and go in search of a third consecutive win, with Chicago scoring 122+ plus points in their last three games.

The six-time NBA champions head to Canada to face the Toronto Raptors, with the Eastern leaders 13/10 to collect another success while the Raptors can be backed at 8/13.
